About the role

Direct and control on-site concrete construction operations for medium to large-scale projects, ensuring work is completed in accordance with project plans, safety regulations, and timelines, particularly in DOE, DoD, and commercial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control concrete construction and related civil field activities for the project, including excavation and site preparation, utility coordination, concrete flatwork, foundations, and structural pours, grading and backfill operations, earthwork, underground piping installations, drilling support, and supervision of civil and concrete subcontractors.
  • Ensure all concrete placement, forming, finishing, and related operations comply with project specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Schedule and coordinate day-to-day site activities, including the management of subcontractors, materials, and equipment to maintain project progress and efficiency.
  • Schedule work to be performed, reviews work accomplished by each craft, and coordinates established area operational plans for assigned scope.
  • Determine workforce requirements and supports the preparation of construction sequencing and execution methods, schedules, manning charts, material requirements, and equipment requirements for assigned concrete work.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Review and assign installation work packages to Foremen and General Foremen and supports concrete placement sequencing, access planning, and workface readiness.
  • Support crew mix, equipment, material estimate development to assist project management in the preparation of proposals and change estimates including constructability reviews, production validation and risk identification.
  • Conduct site safety meetings, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and enforcing company safety policies to minimize risks.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure project requirements and expectations are met, including tracking production and explaining differences between planned and executed quantities.
  • Affirm quality control standards are consistently applied, reviewing workmanship and materials to confirm they meet design and specification requirements.
  • Aid in resolving any on-site construction issues or changes, working closely with the project management team to keep projects on track.
  • Supervise the work of Assistant Superintendents, General Foreman, Foreman, and junior site staff, providing guidance and feedback to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Maintain daily reports and records of on-site activities, including labor, materials used, and any issues encountered during construction.
  • Collaborate with project management regarding daily production analysis, budget tracking, cost management, and resource allocation for the project.
  • Capture and implement lessons learned and corrective action plans.
  • Ensure assigned concrete construction operations and subcontractor activities comply with approved design documents, specifications, schedules, budgets, project procedures, inspection/testing requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with Field Engineering, Design, Foremen, General Foremen, and Craft Professionals to interpret engineering design documents, vendor documents, RFIs, field changes, constructability issues, and technical requirements affecting assigned concrete work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience in concrete construction supervision.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in concrete construction supervision, with a focus on DOE, DoD, or large commercial projects (required).
  • Knowledge of concrete construction, including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, foundations, slabs, walls, placements, curing, protection, and finishing.
  • Ability to plan and support concrete work using work packages, short-interval planning, workface readiness, quantity tracking, and productivity monitoring.
  • Ability to read and apply drawings, specifications, vendor data, inspection requirements, test requirements, and applicable codes and standards.
  • ACI Certifications preferred such as, Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher (formally Flatwork Finisher and Technician), Adhesive Anchor Installer, etc.
  • Strong understanding of concrete techniques, forming systems, finishing processes, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to supervise multiple crews and resolve conflicts between CTI work and other trades.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and maintain schedules under pressure while maintaining craft crew focus.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification (required); First Aid/CPR certification (preferred).
  • Additional certifications in construction management or safety (preferred).
  • Experience overseeing construction sites, managing subcontractors, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards (required).
  • Must receive a satisfactory pre-hire drug screen and background check.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements.
