Major Responsibilities
- Enforce safety and quality control policies among employees and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothly and on schedule
- Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, supervisors and others to determine project needs
- Plans construction processes
- Maintains a daily diary of all activities and site conditions and manages the punch list and closeout process for the job
- Provides front-line supervision of crew members and provides onsite feedback on their performance
- Trains other crew members upon hire and welcomes the team
- Monitor and report on project progress
- Orders the appropriate equipment and arranges for regular maintenance
- Plans inspections and obtains construction permits from local authorities
- Keeps track of material stock and orders
- Ensures the job site is safe, clean, and orderly
- Resolves on-site issues and emergencies
- Complies with company and federal rules, policies, and procedures – wears required safety equipment, responds to and acts on safety concerns.
Requirements
- Education Required: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in construction/business management, or equivalent work experience
- Work Experience Required: 3+ years of experience in a construction supervisory role. 5+ years of experience railroad construction or heavy civil construction. Experience operating heavy machinery
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FMCSA, DOT, FRA)
- Knowledge of rail maintenance and/or construction operations
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
