Superintendent I

Major Responsibilities

• Enforce safety and quality control policies among employees and subcontractors to ensure the project runs smoothly and on schedule
• Collaborate with engineers, subcontractors, supervisors and others to determine project needs
• Plans construction processes
• Maintains a daily diary of all activities and site conditions and manages the punch list and closeout process for the job
• Provides front-line supervision of crew members and provides onsite feedback on their performance
• Trains other crew members upon hire and welcomes the team
• Monitor and report on project progress
• Orders the appropriate equipment and arranges for regular maintenance
• Plans inspections and obtains construction permits from local authorities
• Keeps track of material stock and orders
• Ensures the job site is safe, clean, and orderly
• Resolves on-site issues and emergencies
• Complies with company and federal rules, policies, and procedures – wears required safety equipment, responds to and acts on safety concerns.

Requirements

• Education Required: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in construction/business management, or equivalent work experience
• Work Experience Required: 3+ years of experience in a construction supervisory role. 5+ years of experience railroad construction or heavy civil construction. Experience operating heavy machinery

Skills & Knowledge Required

• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (FMCSA, DOT, FRA)
• Knowledge of rail maintenance and/or construction operations
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
