Job Summary
The Superintendent is responsible for supervising craft employees assigned to the Electrical construction discipline work area.
Essential Functions
- Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values.”
- Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.”
- Plans and supervises work activities.
- Determines method of construction, safety procedures and requirements, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule and documents actual hours worked.
- Captures assigned work with different crafts, company departments and/or other contractors.
- Captivates liaison with safety department, engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with safety policies, drawings, specifications and schedules.
- Assists in resolving construction problems and safety issues, as required.
- Conducts accident investigations with safety department, as required.
- Maintains liaison with HR Department to resolve issues of requisitioning required manpower.
- Maintains liaison with other departments (Material Control, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Engineering) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule.
- Conducts field safety audits, as required and maintains a complete understanding of Corporate Safety Manual and requirements.
- Performs additional responsibilities, as directed.
Qualifications
- 6+ years’ experience in similar facility, including construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures; 1+ years’ experience supervising craft employees.
- 4-year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
Work Includes
- Field inspections and audits and the physical ability to conduct these field duties which require the following activities:
- Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project via turnstile access.
- Extensive walking in and around a construction site.
- Tasks at heights including climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, and working on uneven surfaces.
- Working in small or confined spaces.
- Ability to push, pull, lift, or carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. fall protection harness, hard hat, etc.).
- Ability to be fit tested for and use a respirator.
- Ability to perform work tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
