About the Role

Spire is seeking a Supervisor, Pipeline Management to work in the Birmingham, AL operation. This position will be responsible for providing supervision of daily activities of pipeline inspectors, contractors, and company crews.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and supervises the work of company inspectors and new construction crews involved in installations, tie-ins, replacement, and retirement activities per company standards.
  • Regularly use the technologies used within the field operations department to validate work and monitor efficiencies.
  • Contact customers or contractors as necessary to effectively complete work activities.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and/or data entry, via computer, for Payroll, Engineering, Compliance, Claims, Safety, and others.
  • Regularly visit job sites to assist inspectors and crews and to monitor conditions that may be hazardous to employees or the public; assist employees in minimizing those hazards.
  • Train employees in construction and maintenance procedures and standards.
  • Observe and evaluate probationary employees and complete necessary documentation.
  • Ensure tools and materials needed by employees are available and in working order; procure more as necessary.
  • Work in an “after hours” capacity as a duty supervisor.
  • Oversee the implementation of plans to ensure the health and safety of all employees in the region.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license.
  • Three years of internal experience in the installation, replacement, and/or maintenance of pipe of various sizes and materials or a minimum of five years’ external experience with other companies performing similar work.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • A mix of normal office conditions and outdoors in all weather conditions and in areas exposed to loud audible noises.
  • Abnormal working hours may be required.
  • Travels to other service locations.
