Basic Function
Supervises and coordinates the activities of custodial staff in the daily maintenance and cleaning of contractual buildings.
Reporting Relationship
Reports To: Project Manager
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervises assigned custodians in cleaning contractual buildings.
- Recommends personnel actions, i.e., promotions, transfers, hires, and terminations.
- Schedules and assigns work tasks daily.
- Interviews and evaluates potential candidates for employment.
- Trains assigned staff in various cleaning techniques.
- Prepares daily work schedules ensuring all specifications outlined in the contract are completed and assigns personnel accordingly.
- Prepares performance evaluations of custodial personnel.
- Ensures the safety and wellbeing of staff on the job site through training and communication.
- Maintains equipment and supplies and advises on purchases.
- Receives and approves all leave requests.
- Implements corrective action measures regarding performance/attendance in accordance with program policies and procedures.
- Conducts routine quality control inspections in accordance with statement of work.
- Maintains timecard and attendance records daily, weekly.
Specifications
- Position requires a high school diploma.
- Five years' experience in the janitorial field. Supervisor experience desired.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and practices.
- Ability to instruct housekeeping employees in the performance of manual tasks requiring moderate strength.
- A thorough knowledge of the operation of all mechanical cleaning equipment.
- Ability to prepare written reports and other correspondence relating to the job as necessary.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with subordinates as well as other supervisors and management personnel.
- Ability to partner with clients individually, in families, to help them mobilize resources and their inner capacity to address problems they face.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with other team members, other agency resources, and outside services in addressing client needs.
Compensation
- Compensation within the posted salary range varies based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, and performance at the time of the offer.
Mental/Physical Demands
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages accurately.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, sit, and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
