About Us
Cambridge Boston Alignment Initiative (CBAI) is a Cambridge, MA-based 501(c)(3) non-profit, founded in 2022. Our mission is to advance research and education directed towards ensuring that society navigates a safe and beneficial transition to advanced AI systems. CBAI runs educational programming, conducts and supports research, and disseminates our findings to experts and the public.
About the Role
The Director of Programs will lead CBAI’s educational programming, including our flagship AI Alignment Upskilling Program, a 10-week course for students and professionals interested in AI alignment. The Director of Programs will also oversee our research support programs, including our Research Fellowship and Research Manager program, and will help shape CBAI’s strategy and operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, execution, and continuous improvement of CBAI’s educational programs, including the AI Alignment Upskilling Program.
- Oversee CBAI’s research support programs, including the Research Fellowship and Research Manager program.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow CBAI’s impact, including expanding our reach and deepening our engagement with the AI alignment community.
- Manage a team of program staff, including the Upskilling Programs Manager and Research Managers.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure smooth program operations, including budgeting, logistics, and reporting.
- Represent CBAI at conferences, workshops, and other events to build partnerships and promote our mission.
- Work with the Executive Director to shape CBAI’s overall strategy and priorities.
Requirements
- Experience designing and running educational programs, ideally in a non-profit or academic setting.
- Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering high-quality programs on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with AI alignment research and the broader AI safety landscape.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Passion for CBAI’s mission and a commitment to reducing risks from advanced AI systems.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in program management, education, or a related field.
- Experience managing teams and working collaboratively with senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with budgeting and financial management is a plus.
- Background in AI, computer science, or a related technical field is a plus.
