About the role
The Summer Kitchen Staff position is available immediately through August 1st, 2026. The position pays $350 - $400 weekly.
Essential Functions
- Prepares and serves food under the supervision of the shift manager.
- Washes dishes and cleans and cares for the kitchen, equipment, and dining hall.
- Fulfills sanitary standards set by the Hawaii State Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, YMCA of Honolulu, and Camp Erdman’s Director of Food Service.
- Adheres to the code of conduct and exemplifies the values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of food preparation, serving, and kitchen procedures (preferred).
- Experience as a cook in camp or institutional food service (preferred).
- A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Completion of an approved Hawaii Food Handler course (preferred).
- Age 18 or older by the start date (required).
- TB Test (required).
- On-site, seasonal housing provided at no cost to employees (discretionary based on Director of Food Service approval).
- Housing includes gas, electric, water, and sewer utilities at no cost.
- Access to any meals provided to program participants (discretionary based on availability).
Child Protection Commitment
The YMCA requires all staff to uphold professional boundaries, complete mandatory Praesidium training, and report any concerns related to child abuse. All candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening, including criminal and sex offender checks.
