About The Program At FCL Builders, we build more than just buildings, we build your career. We are an employee-owned and operated industrial and design-builder general contractor specializing in eCommerce, Manufacturing, Cold Storage, Data Centers, Warehousing and Distribution, Food Processing, and Life Sciences. Our 10-week Internship Program is designed to give students an immersive, hands-on overview of the industrial construction management process. Through a structured rotation across Pre-Construction, Production, and Field Operations, you’ll gain exposure to every step of the project lifecycle. Along the way, you’ll receive virtual professional development training, as well as bi-weekly mentorship meetings to help you grow both personally and professionally. What You’ll Do During your internship, you’ll rotate through three core areas of construction management: Pre-Construction Learn the proposal and budgeting processGain insight into design-build vs. plan-spec approachesReview drawings and perform conceptual estimatingConduct subcontractor scope reviews and clarificationsPerform quantity takeoffs and detailed breakdownsUnderstand the importance of subcontractor communication Production Review plans and identify scopes of workAssist with bidding, buyout, and subcontractor selectionLearn about MEP subcontractors in design-buildGain exposure to permitting and project documentationUnderstand scheduling, project flow, and subcontractor feedbackParticipate in project closeout processes Field Operations Review drawings and plans on-siteAttend pre-construction meetings with tradesLearn and apply jobsite safety practices, including PPE, inspections, audits, and toolbox talksParticipate in daily site walks and subcontractor meetingsTrack project documentation and contribute to closeout What You Bring Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related fieldStrong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teamsEffective communication skills (written and verbal)Solid mathematical and problem-solving abilitiesStrong time management and organizational skillsPositive attitude, engaging in seeking growth opportunities, and new innovative solutions Added Value Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Prior construction management internship experienceFamiliarity with CMiC, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project Working Environment Mobility on and around active construction sites as well as in-office settingsExposure to outdoor elements and construction noise during site visitsExtended periods working at a desk or computer screen Why FCL At FCL Builders, you’re more than just an intern — you’re part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and growth.
