Summer Camp Unit Leader - PreK
About the role
We are seeking a Summer Camp Unit Leader to positively impact the summer camp community and help children reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and train staff to ensure effective implementation of programs and activities.
- Ensure staff adherence to all policies and procedures.
- Coach and train staff in providing quality camping experience.
- Plan and oversee the implementation of a variety of camp activities; ensure activities are age appropriate and contribute to the overall growth and development of the campers.
- Able to identify, address, and redirect/correct inappropriate behavior.
- Able to ensure appropriate behavior of campers and staff to avoid the risk of accidents.
- Able to assist in maintaining effective communication with parents/guardians regarding camper and camp activities.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- A high school graduate or equivalent, or enrolled in a minimum of 2 years of child development coursework approved by state licensing requirements.
- Experience working with children and at least two seasons working as a Y Camp Counselor or as a counselor in a comparable program.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and experience working with children.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Ability to deal effectively with inappropriate behavior and recognize hazard situations.
