About the role
The Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a Summer Basketball Camp Coach to join their Court Sports Team. This role supports skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while serving as a role model for campers.
Responsibilities
- Lead age-appropriate basketball drills, games, and instructional sessions
- Teach fundamental skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense
- Supervise campers during all activities to ensure safety and well-being
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of campers with varying skill levels
- Enforce camp rules, safety guidelines, and behavioral expectations
- Communicate effectively with campers, fellow coaches, and camp leadership
- Aid in setup, breakdown, and organization of equipment
- Respond appropriately to injuries, incidents, or emergencies following established procedures
Requirements
- Experience playing basketball and/or coaching youth sports
- Ability to work effectively with children and teens in a group setting
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to remain active for extended periods in a gym or outdoor setting
Qualifications
- Preferred previous camp counselor or youth coaching experience
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Background or coursework in physical education, recreation, or a related field
Skills

Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The schedule is flexible but typically includes weekends and weekdays from June to August.
