Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas, with an Accounting, IT, and Land Administration presence in Oklahoma City, OK. We focus on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.
About the role
The Land Administration Intern will own an assigned summer project and work directly with the Division Order and Lease Administration teams to manage the legal and financial ownership of oil and gas assets. You’ll work closely with your team to ensure the Company maintains its leases, complies with contracts, and pays the correct royalty owners.
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (May – August 2027).
Responsibilities
- Work on an assigned, individual Land Administration project throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of the completed project to Diamondback's executive team.
- Develop and increase knowledge in all phases of Land Administration under the direction of an assigned, experienced mentor.
- Assist Division Orders and Lease Administration in all phases of the Land Administration work required to maintain acreage, ownership, and agreements.
- Research and analyze title opinions, leases, operating agreements, term assignments, and other title documentation to determine obligations.
- Confirm ownership in operated and non-operated wells in order to comply with contractual obligations.
- Interface with other departments to understand how asset teams and other disciplines drive key business outcomes.
- Participate in on-site field visits to learn about field operations, including an active drilling rig and active completions spread.
- Participate in intern events and philanthropic endeavors that support the Oklahoma City community.
Requirements
- Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Energy Management, Energy Commerce, or a similar discipline.
- Must have strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
- Must be willing to work in Oklahoma City, OK for the duration of the internship.
- Must be returning to school for the Fall 2027 semester.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher.
- Extracurricular achievements or prior work experience.
