About the role

ING In the Americas, Wholesale Banking division offers a broad range of innovative financial products and services to domestic and international corporate and institutional clients. The Technology Internship is a dynamic and eager intern for the Information Security department within ING New York Technology Departments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing security events using SIEM platforms and AI-driven detection tools.
  • Support threat intelligence and vulnerability analysis to identify emerging cyber risks based on metrics.
  • Contribute to security dashboards and reporting (e.g., Power BI) to improve risk visibility for stakeholders.
  • Participate in basic incident response and investigation activities, including triaging alerts.
  • Help evaluate and document controls aligned with key regulations and frameworks.
  • Assist in maintaining cyber hygiene practices, including access reviews, patch tracking, and data protection controls.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve automation where possible and efficiency using AI-enabled cybersecurity tools and process documentations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles (e.g., CIA triad, basic network and system security).
  • Interest in Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning applications in cybersecurity.
  • Basic awareness of cybersecurity regulations and frameworks (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FFIEC guidelines, NYDFS Part 500).

Skills

  • Exposure to security tools (e.g., SIEM, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners) (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, ServiceNow, iRisk (Preferred).
  • Basic understanding of scripting or programming (e.g., Python) for automation or analysis (Preferred).
  • Academic or project experience in cybersecurity, data analysis, or AI-related domains (Preferred).
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • MS 365, Power points, Excel, One Drive, SharePoint, Co-Pilot etc..

Pay

Hourly Rate: $35/hour.

Schedule

Status: Full-time; Paid (Seasonal), Start Date: June 2027 (10 Week Summer Internship).
