Summer 2027 - Embedded Software Engineering Internship
About the role
CesiumAstro is seeking Summer 2027 interns to design embedded software for satellite communication systems. Interns will work closely with engineers on low‑level and high‑level software for space electronics products, focusing on microcontroller programming, low‑level drivers, board support packages (BSP), end‑use applications, and user interfaces. Assignments will be based on project availability and the interests of the selected candidates. Interns regularly present their work to peers, mentors, and executive leadership, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

- Build board support packages (BSP) and end‑use applications.
- Design user interfaces for space electronics products.
- Collaborate with engineers on both low‑level and high‑level software components.
- Read electronics schematics and component data sheets to inform software design.
- Present progress and results to peers, mentors, and executive leadership throughout the summer.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university.
- GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Advanced coursework in embedded systems.
