Duties/Responsibilities
- Perform subsurface utility investigations using ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic locators, and vacuum excavation techniques.
- Accurately locate and identify underground utilities, such as gas, electric, water, and telecommunications lines.
- Prepare and interpret field sketches, utility drawings, and as-built data.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other field staff to ensure accurate reporting and safe excavation practices.
- Ensure all work complies with safety protocols and industry standards.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, deliverables, and field notes.
- Maintain equipment and vehicles in a clean and functional condition.
Education/Experience
- A highschool diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in SUE, utility locating, or a related field.
- Familiarity with SUE methods, including QL-B, QL-C, QLD and QL-A.
- Ability to read and interpret construction and utility plans.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
- Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Safety and successful performance of essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
