About the role
The Subway Assistant Manager supports restaurant leadership by supervising daily operations and team members to ensure exceptional customer service, food safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. This role assists in scheduling, inventory control, staff supervision, and training while maintaining Subway brand standards, safety, and security. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in motivating the team and delivering a consistently positive guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising daily restaurant operations to ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and operational standards
- Perform all duties of a Shift Manager as needed, including opening and closing procedures
- Schedule, assign, and oversee work for a team of approximately 4–12 employees
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all restaurant areas in accordance with the Subway Operations Manual
- Monitor staff performance, provide coaching and feedback, and assist with training and development
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all restaurant areas in accordance with the Subway Operations Manual
- Participate in performance evaluations and make recommendations regarding promotions, transfers, or terminations
- Absorb and execute special events, promotions, and marketing initiatives
- Help plan and execute special events, promotions, and marketing initiatives
- Complete required University of Subway training and certifications
- Assist with inventory management, product ordering, and paperwork responsibilities
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older to apply
- Must be able to stand during the entire work shift
- Must be able to work in a cooler at a temperature of 35 degrees for up to 30 minutes
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to tolerate gas fumes and cleaning products
- Must be able to climb a ladder to clean windows
- Must be able to travel up to 10%
Qualifications
- Previous retail, food service, or customer service experience
- On-the-job training is provided for all new team members
Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and restaurant operations
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of inventory management and scheduling
- Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
- Ability to follow company procedures and uphold operational standards
- Dependable, motivated, and capable of taking initiative
