About the Role
The Substitute Teacher provides continuity in instructional services when regular teaching staff are absent. The Substitute Teacher delivers planned lessons, manages classroom environments, and ensures student learning continues effectively and safely during the teacher’s absence. Substitute Teachers work on an as-needed basis.
Responsibilities
- Deliver instructional plans prepared by the regular classroom teacher.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Take attendance and submit records.
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher on student progress and classroom activities.
- Implement emergency procedures as necessary to ensure student safety.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and other school settings.
- Use instructional materials and technology provided by the school.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the school.
Pay
- $150.00 for a full day (7.5 hours)
- $75.00 for a half day (anything up to and including 4 hours)
- Personnel who have retired from BPS and are qualified to sub for a teacher: $160.00 for a full day, $80.00 for a half day
Schedule
Bismarck Public Schools uses Red Rover, an absence management system, that allows substitutes to view and accept available absences as well as receive notifications about available jobs.
Qualifications
Hold a current North Dakota Teaching License or an Interim Sub License.
