Substitute Teacher-Wegner Day School
About the role
The Wegner Day School is seeking substitute teachers to fill in for the assigned instructors. This position offers a unique opportunity to support students who are at risk of being expelled or excluded from learning opportunities due to behavioral problems, emotional struggles, or academic failures.
Responsibilities
- Instructs students during school, implementing and modifying lesson plans as needed.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by laws, policies, and regulations.
- Works with classroom teacher assistants and supports staff to implement lesson plans.
- Implements behavioral protocols, observes and evaluates student behavior, performance, social development, and physical health.
- Maintains positive professional communications with parents, guardians, administration, and colleagues regarding progress and concerns.
- Provides close supervision of students in all settings, including the playground.
- Assigns and grades class work and homework as needed, and may administer and grade tests.
- Assists children with self-help skills such as dressing, diapering, toileting, and eating.
- Demonstrates a commitment to the use of a behavioral approach to motivate student learning.
Qualifications
- Current Nebraska Teaching Certificate or Nebraska Substitute Teacher Certificate or a Local Substitute Teacher Certificate required.
- PEM, CPR, and nationally recognized personal restraint model must be obtained if subbing in the RTC or select settings required.

Schedule
Class hours are 8:25am-2:00pm, with lunch included.
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
