Substitute Teacher / Substitute Teacher Monitor

Job Overview

The work schedule is flexible as you pick the days you want to work. All PSERS retirees, active or inactive PA teaching certificate holders may substitute an unlimited amount of days per year.

Qualifications

• All/any certifications for a PA teaching certificate
• An emergency permit obtained through Palmyra Area School District or IU13
• A Bachelor's degree in any content area and completion of the Guest Teacher Program through Lancaster-Lebanon IU13
• For prospective teacher substitutes: College students enrolled in a Pennsylvania-approved college or university teacher preparation program AND have completed a minimum of sixty (60) college credits or equivalent may work as a Substitute Teacher
• Completed at least 60 semester hours or the equivalent of courses at a regionally accredited college/university located in PA for Substitute Teacher Monitors
• At least three (3) years experience as a paraprofessional in a school entity and is currently employed as a paraprofessional in a school entity for Substitute Teacher Monitors
• Met the pre-employment requirements for background clearances, citizenship, and good moral character under the School Code and Child Protective Services Law
• At least 25 years of age
• Completed training on classroom management available through the Palmyra Area School District (via IU13.)

Pay

• $140/day for Day-to-Day Substitute Teachers and Substitute Teacher Monitors
• $224/day for Short-Term Substitutes (more than 20 days but less than 90 days in same classroom/teacher assignment)
• $308.93/day for Long-Term Substitutes (90 days or more in same classroom/teacher assignment)
