Substitute Teacher- St Mary's Catholic School

Position Responsibilities

• Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
• Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
• Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
• Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
• Supervises students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs
• Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration
• Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct
• Collaborates with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programming
• Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in substituting or teaching experience preferred
• Licenses and Credentials: Reliable transportation, valid driver license, valid vehicle insurance, must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening
• Knowledge and Skills: Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs; Provide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students; General supervision of the class; Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, works well independently and on a team; Good written and verbal skills; Good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
