About the role
We are seeking a dynamic, engaging individual to teach dance lessons to Greater Atlanta Christian School students aged 5 and up. The role includes:
Responsibilities
- Teaching and leading a broad scope of age groups in ballet and contemporary (from Early Childhood to pre-Professional level classes)
- Create, develop, and teach choreography
- Represent the School professionally both inside and outside the classroom
- Select music for recitals and concerts
- Participate in all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, recitals, and performances
- Be present in the theater to assist with the production of all recitals and performances – before, during, and after the performance
- Keep up-to-date in your discipline
- Implement any changes to the dance routines and curriculum as needed
- Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement
- Communicate with a diverse group of teachers, students, and parents
- Keep the studio clean and presentable
- Attend staff meetings
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance education (or relevant dance teaching experience), with a Master’s Degree being a plus
- A minimum of one year of relevant dance teaching experience, including teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting
- Proficient in teaching ballet, tap, and jazz; hip hop is a plus
- Articulate instructions in an effective manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and in-classroom leadership qualities
- An upbeat, caring, positive attitude with good communication and strong observational skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to keep students on task in a class
- Maintain confidentiality
- Sound decision-making skills
Qualifications
- Knowledge: A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance education (such as a Dance major) or relevant dance teaching experience is required; a Master’s Degree is a plus.
- Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant dance teaching experience, including teaching students with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in a private setting.
- Abilities: Proficient in teaching ballet, tap, and jazz; hip hop is a plus; articulate instructions in an effective manner; strong interpersonal skills and in-classroom leadership qualities; an upbeat, caring, positive attitude with good communication and strong observational skills; excellent time management and organizational skills to keep students on task in a class; maintain confidentiality; sound decision-making skills.
