Substitute Teacher K - 8
Holy Rosary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and responsible Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The Substitute Teacher supports the mission of Catholic education by maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith-filled learning environment while ensuring continuity of instruction and classroom management.
Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher with lesson plans, instructional activities, and daily classroom routines.
- Provide support to individual students and small groups as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school areas as assigned.
- Maintain a positive, orderly, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Encourage appropriate student behavior consistent with school expectations and Catholic values.
- Assist with attendance, classroom records, student materials, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Help prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials and learning areas.
- Communicate effectively with the classroom teacher, administration, and staff regarding student needs or concerns.
- Support students across different grade levels, subject areas, and classroom routines as needed.
- Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of students at all times.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, staff, and school matters.
- Follow all diocesan, school, health, safety, and emergency procedures and policies.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow lesson plans, teacher directions, and school procedures.
- Patient, dependable, flexible, compassionate, and professional demeanor.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, faculty, staff, and families.
- Commitment to supporting the Catholic mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.
- Practicing Catholic preferred but not required.
