Substitute Teacher - (General SY26-27)

About the role

The Substitute Teacher position is available for those who have passed the assessment and possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Candidates must also have a valid Ohio Department of Education teacher certification/licensure and a satisfactory FBI/BCI background check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units or projects assigned.
• Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives.
• Maintain a well-organized and orderly classroom.
• Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
• Perform duties of absent teacher such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, and bus detail.
• Know emergency evacuations routes for the classroom assigned.
• Know school procedures and regulations.
• Follows sign-in and sign-out procedures as prescribed.

Requirements

A college degree of Bachelor’s or higher is required for this position. Only candidates who have provided verification of a college degree will be scheduled for the assessment. The assessment process will consist of a web-based, computerized assessment. Candidates must have a valid picture ID to take the assessment.
