Substitute Teacher - Certified

About the Role

A substitute for instructional staff across the district (PreK-12), reporting to the building principal.

Characteristics of the ideal candidate:

• Effective verbal, written, and electronic communicator
• Capable of integrating technology resources into curriculum and instruction
• Able to maximize student effort and success both academically and socially
• Exhibits a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students and colleagues

Responsibilities

• Able to organize and prioritize daily schedule and duties
• Manage the classroom in a positive manner and keep students engaged, on task, and collaborative
• Perform any other duties as assigned by a Supervisor or Administration

Requirements

• Certification preferred; proof of certification must be provided if certified
• Minimum one year of college completed for non-certified applicants
• Must be fingerprinted per NYSED Procedures

Pay

Per diem substitute teachers:

• $130.00 per full day for non-certified persons (*includes teaching assistants). Limitations apply for length of employment of uncertified teachers as per the Codes, Rules and Regulations for the State of NY Title 8 CRR-NY 8-5.4.

Certified teachers (valid certificate to teach in the public schools of New York State):

• 0 - 29 days in the same assignment: $145.00 per day
• 30 - 89 days in the same assignment: $155.00 per day
• 90+ days in the same assignment: Step BA-2/MA-2 on current salary schedule
• $155.00 per day for retired teachers with at least 20 years of verifiable NYS teaching experience

1 day = 1.0 FTE. Days will be prorated based on FTE.
