About the role
A substitute teacher is responsible for providing instruction, managing the classroom environment, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. Minimal Qualifications: Hold a high school diploma or have passed a high school equivalency examination approved by the Board of Education.
Responsibilities
- Supports the main school calendar by stepping up when the agreed teacher is unable to perform their full responsibilities.
- The substitute teacher will follow the lesson plans outlined by the full-time teacher.
- Responsible for overseeing student behavior in class and surrounding areas.
- Ability to maintain normal classroom routines and discipline within the classroom.
- Responsible for taking roll and reporting absentees each day.
Requirements
- Complete the CULTURAL COMPETENCY MODULE
- Complete DYSLEXIA MODULE
- Complete CHILD ABUSE RECOGNITION & INTERVENTION TRAINING MODULE
- Complete the BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION & SUPPORT MODULE
- Provide copy of CPR/FIRST AID/AED Training certificate (if applicable)
- National Child Care Background Fingerprinting
- TUBERCULOSIS TESTING
