About the role

Downtown Oakland Science Academy seeks a Full Time Substitute to lead students to academic success in a diverse, compassionate school community.

Envision Education operates three small campuses in San Francisco, Oakland, and Hayward, and a national educational consulting firm called Envision Learning Partners. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate daily with administrators and grade‑level teams to ensure coverage for classes and advisories needing a substitute.
• Internalize and follow lesson and unit plans for daily substitute needs across all subjects.
• Support general‑education students and special‑education students with 504 or IEP plans.
• Engage in weekly professional development and coaching sessions to focus on professional learning and mastery.
• Leverage technology and web‑based programs to guide students in their own learning.
• Know students well, develop a strong sense of community and belonging, and personalize each student’s learning experience.
• Build strong relationships with families, meeting with them on a scheduled basis to share information about their students and the school.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• B.A. or B.S. required.
• Valid California 30‑day substitute permit.
• Commitment to the mission of Envision Education.
• Commitment to professional learning and growth.
• Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve student academic outcomes.
