About the role

Community Consolidated School District 62 in Des Plaines, Illinois serves approximately 4,700 students in grades preK‑8 across 8 elementary schools, 2 middle schools, and 1 year‑around K‑8 school (Iroquois Community School). Substitute teachers may be assigned to any school in the district during the regular school year. Because Iroquois Community School operates on a year‑around calendar, substitutes are occasionally needed during the summer term, and special summer remediation or enrichment programs also require substitute coverage.

Requirements

• Complete an online application at www.d62.org/employment.
• Hold an Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a substitute license.
• Submit unofficial copies of all college/university transcripts (required once upon first application).
• Provide a letter of interest in the position (required at the beginning of each school year).
• Applications reviewed by administrators; qualified applicants placed in a substitute pool for assignment.

Pay

• $165 per day for substitutes with an Illinois PEL.
• $155 per day for substitutes with a substitute license.
• Annual bonuses awarded based on the number of days worked.
