About the Role
Connally ISD is seeking motivated individuals to assist in managing the day-to-day activities of a classroom in the absence of the regularly assigned teacher. As a substitute, you have the flexibility to designate your schedule around your personal calendar and the option to select the campuses and grade levels you are interested in working with.

- Maintains a positive mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development.
- Demonstrates a high degree of self-efficacy, holds themselves accountable for learner outcomes, and advocates for students.
- Works efficiently within existing learning structures and believes in the capability of students to excel.
- Facilitates problem-solving and serves as a role-model to students.
- Invests in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety.
- Demonstrates ability to learn and convey a variety of subject matters quickly while adhering to school processes and protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Education or a related field.
- Recent teaching experience or other activity in area of primary instruction.
- Preferred knowledge of current instructional strategies.
- Previous teaching experience is a plus.
- Teaching credentials are a major plus.
Skills
- Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade level.
- Desire and ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds and ability levels toward accomplishing their educational goals.
- Ability to organize tasks, manage time, and meet varied deadlines; manage small and large groups of students; and communicate effectively, including on sensitive topics.
- Working familiarity with assistive technologies, internet and email systems, and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with computers (PC and Apple) and their use in instruction to enhance student learning.
- Working knowledge of various office and video equipment.
Selection Procedure
Applicants are required to pay a fee to be fingerprinted and must complete a substitute training course prior to employment.
