Substitute Teacher
About the role
We are seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 13 hours per week in our Center located in Brookfield, CT. The substitute is called as needed when staff are out sick, but may decline if unavailable on a particular day. No teaching certification or formal teaching experience is required; we will provide all necessary training.
Hours to be on-call are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:45am to 3:15pm. Childcare/nursery is provided.
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and classroom management according to Regina Caeli Academy standards
- Follow provided curriculum and grading guidelines
- Uphold a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship
Requirements
- Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church
- Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to your state in life
- Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness
- Complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training prior to teaching
Preferred experience includes homeschooling, working with homeschool children, ministry in a Catholic parish, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching your own children, or teaching in a classical or private school (though not required).

Regina Caeli Academy is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Our mission is to form classically educated young men and women according to the unbroken tradition and teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, the Ignatian Principles of Education, and the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius.
