Substitute Teacher (As-Needed Basis)

Essential Responsibilities

• Arrive on time and prepared for assigned teaching responsibilities.
• Follow lesson plans and instructional materials left by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
• Supervise students throughout the school day, including transitions and other assigned duties.
• Take attendance and follow school procedures for reporting absences.
• Communicate with the appropriate school leaders regarding questions, concerns, or student needs.
• Leave the classroom organized and provide notes for the classroom teacher regarding the day's activities.
• Follow school policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Perform other reasonable duties related to the substitute assignment as directed by school administration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication skills.
• Effective classroom management skills.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Successful completion of all required background checks and onboarding requirements.
• Preferred: Associate's or bachelor's degree, experience working with children in an educational setting, previous substitute or classroom teaching experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to move up and down stairs.
• Ability to supervise children outside for approximately 30 minutes.

Work Schedule

This is an as-needed position. Work schedules vary based on staffing needs, and no minimum number of assignments is guaranteed. Substitutes may accept or decline assignments based on their availability. Contracted substitute teachers report to the Director of Operations (DOO).

Reporting Relationship

The DOO is responsible for coordinating substitute assignments, communicating scheduling needs, and serving as the primary point of contact for substitute teachers.

Pay

Substitute teachers are compensated at a rate of $160 per full day worked. Partial day assignments may be compensated at a prorated rate.
