Substitute Teacher - 26/27 School Year (AS NEEDED)
Substitute teaching positions for the 2026-2027 school year, available on an as-needed basis within Stanislaus County.
About the role
Provides large and small group instruction in all subjects in a regular teacher’s absence. Develops classroom lesson plans or follows lesson plans provided by the teacher. Maintains standard pupil behavior, suitable class control, and an orderly learning environment. Performs other related duties as assigned by the school principal.

Requirements
- Valid California Teaching Credential, California 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit, Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave (TPSL), or Temporary County Certificate (TCC) issued by SCOE
- District Employment History form required for current or previous LEA employment (including substitute teaching), effective January 1, 2025
- References must be current or former supervisors; coworkers, friends, or family references will not be accepted
Pay
- Daily rate: $180.00 – $250.00
- Special Education assignments: $225.00 per day
Schedule
- Employment type: Part-time, on-call
- Hours vary depending on assignment
- Locations vary within eighteen districts in Stanislaus County, plus SCOE Alternative Education, Career Education, and Special Education sites
- SCOE does not provide substitutes for Modesto City, Ceres Unified, Oakdale Joint Unified, Riverbank Unified, Roberts Ferry Union, Sylvan Union, Turlock Unified, or Waterford Unified districts
