What You’ll Do

  • Substitute Cook:
    • Prepare and serve meals according to Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and USDA rules and regulations.
    • Perform kitchen clean-up duties.
    • Follow health standards of local Department of Health.
    • Follow food service skills development training plans for individual students.
  • Substitute Custodial Worker:
    • Clean and maintain the building in accordance with established cleanliness standards.
    • Safely operate custodial equipment and maintain it appropriately.
    • Maintain an orderly and safe building and grounds.
    • Demonstrate effective safety skills with students, equipment, and environments.
    • Safely use cleaning supplies and maintain them appropriately.
  • Substitute School Office Assistant:
    • Type using a computer keyboard with competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, and Outlook).
    • Maintain moderately complex databases to provide service and accurate information for management.
    • Review documents and reports to ensure work product meets established standards.
    • Aid staff in completing forms to provide service.
    • Open, sort, process, and distribute mail.
    • Answer telephone, take messages, and route calls efficiently.
    • Greet and welcome visitors, determine the nature of their business, and conduct visitors to appropriate personnel.
    • Order and inventory supplies.
  • Substitute Teacher Aide:
    • Assist the classroom teacher in carrying out the individual student instructional program as directed by the teacher.
    • Follow behavior support plans of individual students.
    • Accommodate for each student’s individual communication needs.
    • Supervise students during off-campus instruction.
    • Perform the daily self-care needs of students (e.g., diapering, feeding, hand washing, tooth brushing, etc.).
    • Follow student-specific special health care procedures as trained by the school nurse.
    • Aid in the arrival/dismissal transfer of students to/from bus and classroom.

High School Diploma or GED

Experience working with individuals with severe disabilities is preferred.
