Substitute School Nurse (PLEASE READ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BELOW)

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICANTS

1. To be eligible to apply for a substitute certificate, the applicant must have completed at least 60 college credits.
2. A substitute school nurse must hold a NJ Registered Nurse license from the State of NJ.
3. All applicants must be cleared by the New Jersey Criminal History Review Unit for this district and be approved by our Board of Education.
4. A substitute teacher who has graduated from a specific school in our district within the last three years may not be permitted to work in that same building until year 4 post graduation.

APPLYING TO BE A SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE

To apply, follow these steps:

1. If you do not have a current NJ school nurse or substitute school nurse certificate, apply online for a NJ substitute school nurse certificate at NJ Educator Certification. Choose 'Credential' and select 'School Nurse Substitute'.
2. Upload a PDF of your unofficial college/university transcripts to the district application.
3. Upload a PDF of your New Jersey RN license to your application.
4. Complete and submit the NJ Fingerprint Background Check form. You will be contacted by our District Office to process the application.
5. Provide references and undergo an interview.
6. Have a Mantoux (TB) test performed by a medical provider of your choice and provide the results.

REQUIREMENTS

• A NJ educational school nursing certificate, a substitute school nurse certificate, or eligibility to apply for a substitute school nurse certificate.
• A NJ Registered Nurse license from the State of NJ.
• Criminal History Clearance from the New Jersey Criminal History Review Unit.

BENEFITS

• No benefits.
• A flat rate of $250.00 per day for substitute services.

PAY

• $250.00 per day.

SCHEDULE

• "On call as needed" schedule.
