Substitute School Nurse

About the role

The Substitute School Nurse provides health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse. The nurse promotes a healthy school environment and works in compliance with district policies and state health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat student illnesses and injuries.
• Administer medications and monitor medical treatments as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation.
• Communicate with parents and staff regarding student health concerns.
• Support health screenings and emergency response procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN) license.
• School nursing or pediatric experience preferred.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Strong communication, organization and clinical skills.
• Ability to work independently and handle confidential information.
