About the role
The LaGrange Area Department of Special Education seeks to hire an experienced Special Education Teacher. This position is responsible for providing educational services to students with special needs in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, resource rooms, and home visits.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and related service providers to ensure the provision of comprehensive support to students.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress and IEP goals.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- A valid teaching license in Special Education.
- At least two years of teaching experience in a special education setting.
- Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of applicable federal and state laws.
Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Skills
- Knowledge of special education methodologies and strategies.
