About the role
Acelero Learning is seeking a Substitute Preschool Teacher to support Head Start classrooms serving children 3 to 4 years of age. This “as-needed” position provides coverage in classrooms at various locations throughout the county, working collaboratively with another teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with 14 to 20 children.
Responsibilities
- Follow the established curriculum during coverage periods.
- Plan and implement learning experiences that advance children’s intellectual and physical development, including school readiness skills in literacy, phonemic awareness, print, numeracy, language, vocabulary, book appreciation, and problem-solving.
- Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment, ensuring required adult-child ratios and proper supervision at all times.
- Support children’s social and emotional development using “positive guidance” approaches to address challenging behaviors.
- Interact with children in an appropriate and supportive manner.
- Encourage family involvement in the Head Start program and foster relationships between children and their families.
- Collaborate effectively with other teacher(s) in the assigned classroom and center.
- Follow all Acelero Learning policies and procedures related to health, safety, nutrition, and center operations.
- Adhere to the assigned schedule, report to work on time, and communicate proactively with the Center Director and Early Learning/Disabilities Specialist regarding any schedule changes.
- Participate in assigned meetings, events, and training as required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
Pay
$15.92 per hour.
