Substitute Nurse (RN or LVN)

About the role

This position reports to Human Resources, Principal, Supervisors, Teachers as applicable, with a pay grade of Substitute Wage and a status of Non-Exempt.

Responsibilities

• Arrive promptly at the assigned time and location to assemble materials and receive necessary directions.
• Park in designated areas and report directly to the principal's office for instructions regarding classroom assignments and responsibilities.
• Fill out a Substitute Sign-In Report as needed to ensure proper reporting to the Payroll Office.
• Perform special duties assigned to the classroom teacher.
• Check the room condition, noting lighting, temperature, and seating arrangements, and become familiar with emergency drill procedures.
• Prevent students from leaving the room unless necessary, and send sick or injured students to the school nurse.
• Notify the school office of any serious problems experienced during the day and supervise the dismissal of classes.
• Leave the room in good order, turning out lights and performing other housekeeping chores.
• Fulfill all other duties as assigned by the campus/district administration.
• Dress as a professional educator and follow all safety guidelines provided by the district.

Requirements

• Maintain emotional control under stress.
• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing.
• Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.

Working Conditions

The position involves working in a school environment with students, and may require standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.

Schedule

This is a part-time position, with a shift type of substitute.
