This is a flexible, substitute opportunity with a national fitness organization! NIFS is hiring substitute Fitness Specialists who can cover classes and fitness center duties when our full-time staff take time off for vacation, training, or illness. The Health Fitness Specialist in Coverage follows the direction of the Manager to ensure quality in all areas of the Fitness Center including but not limited to customer service, member services, group fitness offerings, and other Fitness Center or departmental initiatives. Requirements Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from four-year college/university preferred.Relevant job experience requiredAbility to teach basic group fitness classes Ability to safely and accurately prescribe exercise for adults using ACSM guidelinesACSM Health/Fitness Specialist Certification preferred; other industry-related certifications (CPT, CSCS, etc.) acknowledgedCurrent CPR/AED/First Aid certification required Responsibilities Assesses health status of members, ranging from apparently healthy to high risk, to provide exercise and other wellness-related counsel/recommendations unique to each individualTeaches group exercise classes; provides a range of acceptable activities to meet various fitness levels of class participants; adheres to appropriate safety guidelines while keeping classes inviting, challenging, and well-attendedSupervises fitness center and uses educational background and other relevant training to accurately and safely answer member questions related to health, fitness, and wellbeingConducts orientations according to the facility layout, membership policies/procedures, and Quality Assurance guidelinesHelp clean equipment and other areas of the facility as neededPerforms other duties as assigned NIFS is an equal opportunity employer.
