Substitute Educator (Alameda County School District)

Educator

$21-24 per hour (based on education and experience)

Hours

(Fall start August 10th) ON CALL
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2:30pm-6:00pm
Wednesday 11:50am-6:00pm

Location

Candidates should be open to being placed at any of the schools we partner with in Alameda Unified School District. We cannot guarantee preferred school locations as our openings are determined by the needs of our programs.

Responsibilities

• Daily Program Meetings: Review goals and updates, share ideas, discuss professional progress, encourage collaboration, and team accountability.
• Organize and Facilitate Daily Activities: Prepare activities and curriculum for the day, ensuring they align with the program’s objectives. Organize and lead structured daily fitness, activities, and curriculum; that are both educational and enjoyable for all ages.
• Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, ensuring children are enjoying themselves while also meeting program goals. Achieve this by modeling positive guidance and effective classroom management.
• Monitor the environment, address potential hazards, and follow all safety protocols. These may include documenting attendance, incidents, and other observations.
• Effective communication with a varied audience, including children, parents, staff, and school personnel.

Requirements

• Outstanding customer service and relationship-building skills
• Works well in a team environment
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with children
• 6 Early childhood Education Units
• CPR (Preferred)
• AUSD Proficiency Test
• Absenteeism Test
• Ability to lift 25lbs
• Flexibility to support additional local programs as needed
• California Requirements
• Ability to meet state-specific requirements
• Cleared tuberculosis test and health screening
• 18+ years of age
• Proof of High School diploma/GED required
• Authorized to work in the US
• LiveScan fingerprint background check completed
• 48 college credits or bachelor's degree or take a para educator exam
