Substitute Educational Assistant - District Wide
Responsibilities
- Discuss assigned instructional materials with teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Aid students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Use encouragement and redirection to support learning in the school environment.
- Assist in maintaining classroom order.
- Supervise students to and from class, during lunch, recess, and bus loading.
- Assist with supervision during emergency situations.
- Devote attention to children needing discipline and special attention.
- Assist children with outdoor clothing.
- Constantly supervise students for safety in all areas of learning.
- Carry out program and behavioral objectives in both the school and public settings.
- Bathroom students (clean body waste and fluids) and provide primary personal and health care needs.
- Feed students if necessary.
- Track student progress to provide information to teachers for instruction/re-instruction and assist with annotated record keeping.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent plus coursework toward teacher certification preferred.
- State of Wisconsin, Special Education certification is required by the successful candidate. There is a fee of $100.00 for a five-year license and renewals are necessary as long as you remain in this position.
- One (1) plus year experience working with children.

- Work well with medically fragile students.
- Work well with students, staff, and public.
- Organize and prioritize work load.
- Work with little or no supervision.
- Have good independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
- Have patience and initiative.
- Willingness and ability to follow detailed verbal and written directives.
- Work well under directions from two or more supervisors.
- Must be creative and resourceful.
- A positive role model for students.
- A positive attitude toward education.
- Dependable, punctual, good attendance.
- Physical stamina, and the ability to reach, stoop/kneel, crouch/crawl, push/pull, lift/carry, climb/balance, stand and walk.
