The San Juan Unified School District is seeking qualified substitute van drivers.
About the role
This position is available on an ongoing basis and is part-time, working on-call during weekdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The length of work year is 6 months from the date of obtaining a Class B permit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Drive school buses safely and efficiently
- Ensure students are properly seated and secured
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Communicate effectively with students and staff
- Adhere to the school district's policies and procedures
Requirements
- A valid California Class B Commercial driver's license permit
- A valid medical certificate approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles
- Completion of a district-approved van or transportation vehicle defensive driving safety training course
Qualifications
Qualified employees enrolled in the San Juan Unified School District bus driver academy obtaining a Class B school bus driver certification may be assigned to this temporary position.
May be required to pass a district-sponsored physical examination (including back evaluation) to be conducted by a district-authorized physician prior to employment. Individuals selected for this position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to follow directions, and a positive attitude are essential.
