About the role

This as-needed substitute position supports children in both integrated preschool classrooms and infant/toddler daycare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment for children that promotes learning and a positive self-image, reflecting Racker’s values as defined in the Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles, and Code of Conduct.
  • Carry out plans and programs for children as assigned by the teacher, including possible one-to-one assignment with a specific child.
  • Assist with personal care including toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, and positioning.
  • Share information with the classroom and management team.
  • Communicate effectively as a team member, including participation in appropriate meetings.
  • Promote open communication and mutual understanding.
  • Attend training required by program regulations and as directed by supervisor.
  • Contribute to a positive work and learning environment for children and co-workers—must be professional, courteous, and confidential.
  • Provide ideas and show initiative to help develop the educational setting.
  • Uphold standards of professionalism with regard to behavior and dress.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be at least 18 years old by date of hire.
  • Effective written, verbal, and communication skills.
  • Related experience preferred.

Physical Capability

  • Ability to physically assist children to participate in the program.
  • Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive movements such as sitting/kneeling on the floor, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to move quickly to attend to a running child.

Pay

$17.25 per hour.
