Substitute Counselor 2026-2027

Qualifications Required

• Master's Degree in a related field
• Valid Texas certification in school counseling
• Minimum of two (2) years of successful classroom teaching experience
• Minimum of two (2) years of counseling experience
• Preferred: Evidence of leadership or state-level counseling association experience

Special Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the types of services provided by counselors
• Technology skills, including computer skills, Microsoft applications
• Ability to present information in one-on-one, small groups, and larger group situations to students, parents, and staff
• Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development

Duties And Responsibilities

Provide temporary coverage in a counselor position.

Responsible for implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy in the subject area or grade level designated by district policies and procedures on a day-to-day basis.

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Pay

• Counselor-Elementary: $140 daily rate, $150 incentive extra $10 Tues-Thurs for 2024-25 school year
• Counselor-Middle School: $165 daily rate, $175 incentive extra $10 Tues-Thurs for 2024-25 school year
• Counselor-High School: $190 daily rate, $200 incentive extra $20 on Mon & Friday for 2024-25 school year
