Substitute Classroom Teacher

Substitute Teacher position available immediately at Corpus Christi Catholic School, Houston, TX. This role reports to the Early Childhood, Lower, or Middle School Head.

The Substitute Teacher works with the Principal, students, and faculty to uphold the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education. A loving and generous spirit is essential for this God-centered educational environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to the school’s philosophy and the Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria.
• Collaborate with the Division Head to execute academic responsibilities, following the established curriculum, unit plans, and classroom management strategies left by the Lead Teacher.
• Maintain professional, positive, and constructive relationships with colleagues, administrators, and staff, respecting communal school property.
• Support and enforce the school’s disciplinary guidelines with respect for each child’s integrity.
• Attend liturgies, prayer services, assemblies, faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, workshops, in-service meetings, parent/teacher conferences, and other school functions as requested.
• Use unscheduled class time (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) for classroom planning, professional development, or assisting with overall school needs.
• Perform additional duties as requested, such as playground or lunchroom supervision.
• Maintain communication with administration and parents regarding student progress.
• Respond to all communications (voicemail, email, written notes) within one business day, clearing voicemail and email twice daily (morning and afternoon).
• Demonstrate working knowledge of school technology programs, laptops, and software necessary for curriculum implementation.
• Maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date classroom records, including lesson plans, assessments, rubrics, and attendance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Degree work in a field of study related to education preferred.
• Teaching experience in an elementary school preferred.
