Substitute Bus Aide

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Able to pass all criminal background checks as required by the district
• Able to lift 50 lbs. or more
• Physical ability to assist students

Essential Function of the Job

• Assists the bus driver in loading/unloading students, including operation of lifts, locking wheelchairs, securing seat belts, etc.
• Assists students in following the directions of the bus driver
• Assists the driver in the personal care and management of students
• Checks safety equipment daily, ensuring proper working condition of all safety equipment
• Checks all restraints and wheelchairs securing students safely in place
• Keeps the bus clean
• Enforces the rules and regulations for the safety of all students
• Helps to maintain a safe and orderly atmosphere on the bus
• Familiar with all aspects of the assigned bus route and assists substitute bus drivers

Terms of Employment

• Contract length each year is for 178 days

Job Goals

To assist the bus driver and students for the safe operation of buses and transportation of eligible students of the Conway Public School District.

Evaluation

Based on district policy and Department of Education guidelines and performed by the transportation supervisor.
