About the role

Ignite Education Solutions is hiring Substitute Aides to work in School Districts throughout Cambria, Somerset, and Bedford Counties.

Schedule

Hours are flexible and based on school district schedules.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene tasks such as toileting, grooming, and dressing.
• Support students in mobility and transferring as needed.
• Assist students with physical disabilities in moving around the school, classrooms, and other facilities.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to students facing challenges.
• Follow individual care plans developed in collaboration with teachers, school nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensure that the unique needs of each student are met.
• Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to facilitate students' participation in classroom activities.
• Assist with instructional materials and adaptive equipment as required.
• Maintain open communication with teachers, parents, and school staff regarding students' progress and any concerns.
• Attend meetings with the educational team to discuss and update care plans.
• Encourage and empower students to develop and maintain independence in daily activities whenever possible.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma is the minimum education requirement.
• Willingness to complete and pass required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of children, including mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test (typically completed within a week).
• Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending, and frequent movement throughout the eight-hour day.
• Previous experience working with individuals with special needs or disabilities is preferred.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students with diverse needs.
• Ability to follow instructions, work collaboratively with a team, and adapt to changing situations.
• Understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements related to student information.

Pay

Pay range starts at $10.00 – $17.00 per hour.
