About the Role
CWC Substitute Teachers are driven and innovative educators energized by a unique charter school environment, with a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They implement a high-quality, rigorous, and engaging academic program grounded in constructivism, project-based learning, and multiple intelligences theory. Substitute Teachers in elementary grades are supported by a Teaching Associate who provides behavioral and instructional assistance.
CWC fosters a creative and collaborative environment where teachers grow through ongoing coaching, observation, and feedback cycles while delivering an excellent education.
Responsibilities
- Develop and refine curriculum maps, lessons, and units of study that meet or exceed Common Core Standards while incorporating multiple intelligences.
- Assess student progress and achievement using various methods to collect and report academic data.
- Use data to tailor instruction to meet individual student academic and social needs, ensuring every student performs on grade level or above.
- Create a strong classroom culture through CWC’s social-emotional learning focus, contributing to the broader school community.
- Participate in professional development activities, including internal sessions (led by principals, lead teachers, and visiting experts) and external opportunities (visiting other schools, attending conferences, and sharing best practices).
- Maintain frequent communication and engagement with colleagues, students’ families, and other school stakeholders.
- Actively contribute to the school community by upholding its mission and guiding principles.
- Uphold high professionalism by meeting deadlines and commitments to self, students, and the community.
- Collaborate with and mentor a Teaching Associate.
- Work with grade-level teams and special education/resource (RSP) teachers to design and implement curriculum and assess student growth rigorously.
