Substation Technician C (NexEra)

About the role

This position is a non-exempt Substation Technician C role responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of substation equipment and systems. It involves work in confined spaces and elevated work areas, often using specialized construction equipment.

Responsibilities

• Works safely while performing tasks such as concrete foundations, buswork, airbreak switchgear, control cable terminations, capacitor bank installations, transformers, regulators, and circuit breakers.
• Maintains Company vehicles, test equipment, and tools in good working condition.
• Performs work involving energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and care to ensure safety.

Requirements

• Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Must have or be capable of obtaining a Commercial Drivers' License.
• Must supply own personal hand tools and safety toed work boots.
• Must be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
• Must be capable of working in confined spaces/areas and working independently or with others.
• Must be capable of operating various types of heavy equipment.
• Willing to work over-time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested.

Qualifications

• Able to learn and follow construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
• Knowledge of substation structural drawings.
• Willing to work in various locations and outside weather conditions.

Skills

• Safety awareness and adherence to company safety rules and policies.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
