About the role
As a Substation Technician, you will support the successful delivery of substation construction projects by contributing to installation activities and developing your technical skills in a hands-on field environment. Working under the guidance of Foremen and Supervisors, you will assist in executing key scopes of work, gain exposure to substation construction practices, and build a strong foundation in safety, quality, and productivity standards. This role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career within the utilities and substation construction field.
Responsibilities
- Exposure or experience in: Conduit installation and routing
- Ground grid installation and basic grounding practices
- Precast trench installation and layout
- Cable tray installation for cable management
- Structural steel installation support
- Apparatus installation assistance
- Bus work installation support
- Low-voltage cable installation and basic wiring
Requirements
- Developing a working knowledge of substation materials, consumables, and tools, and understanding of their application in the field.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to follow direction while contributing to team success.
- Safety-first mindset, good communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding construction environment.
- Motivated to build your technical capabilities and advance within the substation construction field.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a related field preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to perform in a construction environment
