Key responsibilities

  • Leading design reviews
  • Mentoring junior designers
  • Collaborating with other disciplines
  • Managing project timelines
  • Staying updated on relevant technologies to ensure the structural integrity and successful delivery of projects
  • Effective communication supported by a philosophy of continuous improvement and teamwork
  • Resource allocation for direct reports and coordination with engineering manager
  • Identifying and resolving project issues by keeping an open line of communication between the internal project team and the client
  • Interacting directly with clients to review and resolve technical project related issues without supervision
  • Collaborating with engineers/designers across disciplines and identifying/resolving potential design issues to assure a complete, high-quality product
  • Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards
  • QA/QC site steel plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs prepared by direct reports
  • QA/QC foundation plans, sections, details along with corresponding BOMs
  • Identifies and resolves design interferences
  • Ensures electrical assets can mount easily, coordinating vendor equipment mounting templates with Leidos' steel design
  • Ensures engineering design details are properly represented for the development of "greenfield" (new) substations
  • Performs design due diligence as it relates to site expansion projects or brownfield work for within existing substations
  • May provide additional support to our site-civil and physical design groups in laying out plans, sections, and details for substation projects

Qualifications

  • AA/2-year degree in Engineering Technology - CAD or related scientific/technical discipline. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 0 - 4 years of relevant experience in steel design. Additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
  • Demonstrated Understanding of design concepts associated with high voltage electrical substations
  • Proficient in Substation Power Delivery Software: Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation
  • 3D Modeling Using Autodesk Inventor
  • Candidates must be located in the United States in order to be considered, as this role cannot be performed from outside of the US.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
  • 3D Modeling Using Autodesk Inventor

Pay and benefits

Pay Range $35,100.00 - $63,450.00
