Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop substation cost estimates and infrastructure plans.
- Meet with Stakeholders as technical liaison for substation matters.
- Create relay recommendations and general arrangement (GA) layouts for plant designs.
- Collaborate with consultants to develop Scopes of Work (SOW) and manage EPC bidding.
- Attend project meetings and coordinate with Project Managers.
- Review construction and design packages, including checking engineering prints.
- Order all materials required for substation builds.
- Some design work will be assigned, mostly markup drawings working with the design technician.
Skills
- At least 6 years of utility experience as an engineer in the substation domain.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license REQUIRED.
- Open to Canadian P.E which is the P.Eng.
- Experience with drafting using AutoCAD 2019 or later version.
- Familiarity with:
- System protection and physical substation layout.
- Electrical diagrams and substation components.
- 345 kV systems (some exposure to 500 kV, but not currently working on it).
- High-voltage agreements for data centers.
- Substation configurations such as ring bus and breaker-and-a-half setups.
- Distribution systems and maintenance transfer configurations (considered a plus).
